When it comes to engagements and weddings, we’ve entered a realm where couples are creating their own sense of tradition. These couples have begun to really lean into their collective styles, expressing themselves in ways that are purely singular to the dynamics of their relationship. Because of this, photographing couples at any stage has become incredibly fascinating, and a true artistic treat.
Meet Trey and Ally – two people who opted for an untraditional photo session to document their long awaited engagement. They decided that the conventional approach just wasn’t for them, so together, we planned and styled an atmosphere where they could be candid and comfortable. It was important that we highlighted their individuality, sense of adventure, and this season of life they were experiencing. We wanted to incorporate symbolic elements that were going to accentuate the two of them best, like the fall foliage, Trey’s old school BMW E30, and attire that was stylish, but still cozy.
We spent an entire October afternoon together, exploring the secluded scenery around Seven Valleys, PA. From the tree-covered roadways to golden hour on the lake, we took advantage of what this nearly perfect autumn day had to offer us. Their engagement session was almost entirely self-led, only taking direction from me when needed. Trey and Ally had never stepped in front of a camera before this experience, so naturally, they were a little nervous. However, that nervousness quickly faded when they realized how deeply their photos reflected all of the things they love about each other, and all of the things they enjoy doing together.
