This is what a full-day, personally tailored hiking elopement can look like on the east coast, even in the midst of the winter season. The cold can be harsh, but the eerie beauty is a force to be reckoned with.
This conceptualization was brought to life after many months of manifestation, as it had been circulating through the facets of my brain for some time. None of this would have been possible without the immense group effort it took to style, plan, and execute this romantically vintage and editorial vision.
It’s important to me that the details of the attire you see here are thoughtfully honored. The staple of these photographs are their nostalgic flare and authenticity. Nearly everything was sourced from local thrift stores, or they were passed down from others. The dress in particular, a timely piece, belongs to my mother-in-law. From the moment I saw this photograph of her on her wedding day – circa 1987 – I felt compelled to bring this gown back to life once more in a radically different way.
As you scroll, you’ll realize that these are unconventional scenes from a modern love story that have been intertwined with fragments of time that existed before us. This was a bitter, wintery day spent in the mountains, reimagined to be romanticized and celebrated by the people you see in this collection. Every part of the vision started to seamlessly fade together until it was perfect.
This elopement highlights the undeniably cinematic edge we were looking for to pay tribute to the personal dynamics of their relationship. Designing and participating in an experience that’s so intimately molded to the individual is, in my opinion, a gift that all lovers should indulge in.
Once we had fused the personal and modern elements with the reinvented details of the past, we brought our shared conceptualization to the Appalachian trail, and set it free. The day was spent exchanging stories, thoughts, and relishing in all of the varying avenues of love and inspiration that led us here.
It was a uniquely gratifying feeling to watch every moment come to life.
