If there’s one thing late Autumn promises, it’s the golden hue left from the sun as it makes it early descent. This warm and comforting light casts itself across the horizon, and through the trees. It is one of the highlights of this short season along the East Coast. Sometimes, it even has the power to scare away bouts of creeping seasonal depression with its golden glow.
As if the way the light is captured here isn’t enough for this series to be ingrained in my mind forever, it features two really important people in my life – my cousin Jordan, and his partner Jess. These Baltimore couple photos radiate the cozy nature of the season in a playful and intimate way. They will forever memorialize Autumn’s trademarks.
Jordan and Jess were kind enough to meet me in a place we grew up exploring, knowing, and loving. It’s a place that holds so much significance to us. So naturally, it made it the perfect place to document Jordan and Jess in this way.
Because of this, we met at Loch Raven Reservoir, an outdoor staple loved by many in the Baltimore area. We chose a secluded trail that emphasized the element of closeness they wanted in their photos. As we walked this winding and wooded path, we reminisced on our adventures across the land here. We shared bouts of laughter, and cracked jokes that only we would understand. This experience was entirely new for us, yet it was unquestionably full of nostalgia – which is just the way we like it.
The sentimental impact of places that connect the different parts of our lives together is truly astounding. It’s the places like these that foster a deep appreciation for the stories and memories they will continue to hold for us as time passes.
